On Saturday 5th May, Kim & her 3 chidren, came to me for a Photo Shoot.
Sean ( her eldest son ) had bought a gift voucher for Kim. The family had never taken part in a professional family photo shoot before. So it was a whole new experience for them all. Megan ( the youngest ) pretty little girl, looked great in her photos. I insisted on taking just a few of her on her own aswell. In my shoots, I try to offer all my clients the best variety I possibly can. If you go to a standard commercial high street studio, they will only give you one backdrop on your shoot, commonly the white or black standard backdrop. However, I offer just that little bit more to my clients. And change the backdrops or props slightly, so you wont just be standing or sitting on a white backdrop, we'll change things a little to give you some choice on your images. On Kim's shoot, we used a black backdrop & a white background, and another alternative.
The shoot went down really well, I and Sean, managed to make everyone laugh a little, so we got numerous gorgeous photos of Kim laughing. It wasnt long before everyone was really relaxed.
Most of my work goes into the editing after. An hours shoot can give atleast 200 odd images, and the rest of my work will be in the selection process afterwards, going through each image, and making a selection, separating the awesome from the ok.
I enjoy the post processing ( editing ) afterwards. Most photographers dont always edit their images....... they take them straight of the memory card, perhaps add a sharpen if required and put them straight back onto disc. However I spend a fair bit of time, fiddling with them, choosing a different selection of effects, or perhaps some selective colouring from time to time, a variety of black *& white tones etc.
However, time consuming editing might be, I thoroughly enjoy this part, as my creativity springs into action.
Kim said after how she really enjoyed the Photo Shoot. It was new to her & her family, but she thoroughly loved the whole experience of it.
I presented the photos for her to browse after by email. This is how I usually do things, via contact sheet. This is done using one of 2 pieces of software. Batch processing is relatively easy. I also include a separate folder of small low res images, usually 600x400 for use on internet & social media sites such as Facebook or sending emails to family etc.
Within 2 hours of forwarding the contact sheets to Kim, I got her phone call. She rang me up to say she was absolutely delighted & over the moon with them, and instead of prints, could she have them all on a CD. This tends to happen quite regularly. If people ask for prints, they tend to change their minds after, and want the whole lot.
I talked this through with her, and she agreed to pick up the CD next day. I also added another 30 odd images to her CD , so all in all she received approx 205 edited images in 10x8 size.
She came around to pick up the images the next day, and told me how she will pass my details to all her friends & put up my flyers on the school notice boards at work as she's a teacher in a primary school in Bournemouth.
I get enoromous pleasure at seeing each & everyone of my clients happy. To date their has been no complaints or disatisfaction from anyone. Everyone always wants more images, and keeping my customers happy & producing beautiful edited images & portraits for my clients, is what I enjoy.
Each customer I see, tends to return for another shoot at some point, whether its a baby shoot, model, or family, they always return, and some clients have been coming to see me for approximately 4-5 years.
As they say the proof is in the pudding. Where others may not tend to put any real effort into their work. I make up for their lack by ensuring my customers get a whole lot more for their money. I provide better value on Photography Portraits in Bournemouth than any other Photographer.
